Not every bottle of product for your nails is nail polish. This is why it is always important to check the bottle, because one of the most common scenarios is when someone mixes up their clear nail polish with a clear top coat for their nails. Hill n Dale residents should know that just because both of these products are clear, it doesn’t mean that these products can be used interchangeably. Nail polish does not carry the same properties as a top coat does, even though they are both applied directly to the fingernails of the individual.
Clear Nail Polish
Clear nail polish is pretty much all in the name. It is a type of nail polish that isn’t colored, but as a clear look to it. Because it can be applied over colored nail polish to give more shine to a person’s nails, Hill n Dale residents might think that it is similar to a top coat but this is not true. Clear nail polish offers no protection to fingernails as people might think, even when it is applied on top of nail polish. Some nail polishes that are marketed as clear often have additional items in them such as sparkles or glitter, which makes it more Appealing than simply a clear coat of nail polish.
Top Coats for Painted Nails
Normally a top coat is applied to another layer of nail polish as the last step in a manicure. This is supposed to seal the polish to create a defensive layer that helps protect against scratches and cracks to an individual’s nails. Hill n Dale residents should know that top coats can often create a shine that is very similar to clear nail polish once it is applied, leading many people to mistakenly think that they are the same thing. A top coat may speed up the drying time of the nail polish it sits on top of, and also helps them harden more for more protection.
